Bibliographies and historical word tools

I might as well link to this resource here, since I mentioned it at Con.txt this weekend. I have online bibliographies for 19th- and 20th-century history in the US and UK. They include:

  • Masculinity, Crime, and Everyday Life in Victorian and Edwardian Times (includes a section on homosexuality).
  • Islanders and Watermen of the Chesapeake Bay (for Age of Sail fans).

I put them up a long time ago, so they're likely to have broken links. If you stumble across any, you can try to retrieve the site's cache through the Wayback Machine.

Also, this was recced by someone at Con.txt. It's a fabulous supplement to Google Ngrams for determining whether a word you want to use in a historicalfic is anachronistic.

OED Text Visualizer.
